Workers Cup 2017

Brief & Champions:


  • 24 February to 31 March 2017
  • 32 teams
  • Winner – Nakheel Landscapes


Divided into 8 groups, with 4 teams in each group. Each team played a minimum of 4 games throughout the qualification rounds. The Opening Ceremony was held at Qatar Sports, spectator attendance reached 5,920. All 32 teams` captains participated in a Parade to mark the opening of the Tournament. Group stage matches were played at Al Thumama QFA Technical Fields. The final day of the tournament consisted of a double header with Dulsco against Delta for the Shiled winner position. The Final match was played at Qatar Sports Club ending with Nakheel winning against Al Asmakh with the score of 3-0. The final match was attended by 8,642 Spectators while hosting several VVIPs and Ambassadors. The 2017 Workers Cup Tournament attracted significant attention from both local and international media. Journalists from several countries covered the event along with the local journalists and TV channels including Al Kass & Bein Sports, also the tournament opening match was mentioned at Al Majlis tv show.

The Qatar Stars League & The Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy, in 2016 successfully brought back to the Qatar community the 4th Annual Tournament of the Workers Cup. Like previous years tournaments the aim was to bring various commercial sectors together to compete for the winning spot and share their love for the sport.

Initiated by Qatar Stars League & The Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy, the 1st edition of the Workers Cup delivered a pioneering community engagement initiative. The Workers Cup concept was established with the central goal of reaching out to and engaging with all sections of Qatar society using the power of sports activity and participation.
